WHAT’S IN THE NEWS:
@the_realest_recruiter Agree or disagree? #jobmarket #newjob #recruiterlife #greenscreen
Freind and connection Jesse Tinsley owner of Jobmobz and Recruiter.com made a prediction that tech recruitment will be picking up soon. He deals with numerous large startups and enterprises that have been kicking off large search engagements.
We are still continuing to see layoffs in the tech space with a massive emphasis on productivity, getting “more done with less”, and trying to optimize AI and automation.
Jesse isn’t my only contact in the recruitment space saying things are starting to pick up, but he is the only one bold enough to post his prediction online.
What do you think, Is the tech market picking up?
@the_realest_recruiter Are you wanting to get into this space? #layoffs #techlayoffs #greenscreen
Gaming layoffs continued with layoffs hitting Sony, Activision Blizzard, and Riot games. My immediate thought is the “fall off” from the Pandemic where everyone was stuck inside gaming increasing sales and resulting in more and more hiring. It’s also hard to imagine that AI/Automation is top of mind for executives.
The Gaming industry seems to be the destination for a lot of top talent, but maybe it’s time to consider less sexy industries like manufacturing, hospitality, and healthcare.
I know I’ll probably get schooled by a recruiting veteran for not “controlling” the process but s*** happens in recruitment and hiring because we are dealing with people.
Unfortunately, we are seeing a lot more of this behavior in this employer market:
Longer interview times,
Lower salaries,
Push back to the office…
Basically, all the stuff I loathe.
I’m optimistic we will see a Great Resignation 2.0 once the market shifts back, but for now, we’ll probably continue to see this garbage.
Clearly, I’m happy today.
@the_realest_recruiter Relate? #jobseeker #jobsearch
I love that this post went viral and so many people took it seriously. The most frequent comments were: “ Just 7, you idiot, you need to apply to thousands…” or something of that variation lol!
They are right though, I’m recommending applying between 50-100 jobs a week. More importantly the right jobs…
I’m working with usemassive.com/Joel an auto apply tool that once you’ve set parameters will apply you to 50 jobs a week (Not a spray and pray).
What do you think, Autoapply tools or no?
I recently attended and spoke at https://transform.us/ and one of the biggest topics was AI, of course, lol!
My biggest takeaway was from Marcus Sawyer, recruitment tech leader and entrepreneur. He was part of an AI panel discussing use cases in HR and recruitment and his biggest advice was “Play”
He said we need to approach AI like a child, fearlessly and with an open mind. We shouldn’t put limits on ourselves and we need to experiment.
I loved that take and I believe that if we approach AI tools with this mentality, we will be able to use AI in the right way.
I’ve noticed that a lot of people immediately shut off when they hear AI and they become fearful instead of embracing and experimenting… playing.
I just got a message in my inbox from a recruiter today that said, “Recruiters suck”. Yes, the recruiter on-recruiter hate is real in the job search.
As cliche as this LinkedIn post is… It’s the truth.
We need to remember that behind a resume is a person, and behind a LinkedIn profile is a person… It’s easy to desensitize to this truth but we must refocus and bring this point to life.
I believe that recruiters who can live this out will be successful in the future, candidate experience gives AI a massive window of opportunity especially when it’s at an all-time low right now.
THE TECH IM USING:
Since I started in recruitment a decade ago, nothing has been "easy"... but there are so many great tools available that can help you focus on being a better recruiter.
Since I got back in recruitment at the end of last year, here are the tools I am using, and the great news, you can try most of them out yourself for free:
EQ Buddy: Eq Buddy is the best AI personal recruitment assistant on the market. From sourcing, messaging, and creating job ads, EQ Buddy does it all. With membership, you get access to the product as well as networking opportunities in the EQ Connect community. I use EQ Buddy for Business Development, candidate outreach, and gathering news for the industries I serve. It’s a must-have and getting even better every day.
Recruiterflow - When I started in recruitment I used a spreadsheet, since then I've worked with a lot of frustrating ATSs. When I started my own shop I decided I needed a new tool, so I was referred to Recruiterflow. Their interface is clean and customizable, they can provide me with client portals so I look more professional, and best of all their data migration is painless. You can try them here if you're sick of the ATS Bull**** 😉
Betterleap: Contact information is expensive and usually not accurate, and most sourcing tools have confusing prices. That's why I love Betterleap, you can source using natural language and they have access to the best contact information (DM me if you want to put it to the test against your tool). You can try Betterleap for free!
Metaview - of course, I love this one. No more note-taking for recruiters with instant conversation summaries so you can focus on being the most engaged recruiter you can be. This is a time saver and easily one of my favorite tools. You can try Metaview here and mention “Joel 2024” for the extended month-long trial.
So please guys, if you aren't upping your game, try these tools for FREE,
It will make your life easier, even if recruiting is still a challenge 😉
I am partnered with all the companies above and highly recommend their services!
