POLL OF THE WEEK ON LINKEDIN:

Linkedin is still the GOAT for recruiting... I mean if this doesn't tell the story I don't know what will. Most of the people that said No, mentioned Indeed, Gitlab or other tools like HireEZ and SeekOut, but all roads lead back to Linky Dink.

I think Linkedin has been a genius in staying number one, marketing itself to candidates as a way to elevate their careers, and creating a recruiting monopoly like no other.

They've also somehow convinced all of us, creators, to post content for FREE, while they drive AD revenue with our content, I mean only 3.8 billion...

I've made $2k from Tiktok over the last 6 months... It's not ALL about the money but I've been creating for 4 years on Linkedin and made $0 from them...

A few of my favorite comments on the subject: I reached out to Michele to see if we can do an episode of the podcast since I think building a community is the way to go with recruiting right now. It's hard work so I'd love to hear Michele's POV on the subject.

Navigating this brutal job market

My inbox is exploding with job seekers right now, many of who are recruiters. It's really sad and sometimes it can get overwhelming. It is easily one of the toughest markets, I've ever seen for talent pros. I saw this post on Linkedin by Daniel Brito and I love it for so many reasons.

  1. He talks about the struggle

  2. He gives Actionable advice

  3. It shows that hard work and persistence pay off. (With some rest)

  4. It gives an accurate depiction of the TA job market

I made a video on Tiktok about it too -

My prediction is simple - It's going to get WORSE over the next few months. I am hearing from sources that more cuts/layoffs are coming. That is coupled with so many company leaders investigating how CHAT GPT can automate mundane processes. THE ROBOTS ARE TAKING OVER. (Hopefully they take over linkedin Influencers, Agree?)

What can you do?

  1. Make sure your Linkedin/Resume are searchable and applicable to jobs you're applying for.

  2. If something isn't working change it up quickly - You're applying a lot and not hearing back, change the resume

  3. Take a break at times

  4. Network

  5. Don't believe everything you read online about getting a job, there is no one size fits all.

Interview with Jen Paxton - Co-Founder Jamyr - Remember to tell them Everyone's favorite recruiter sent you

What is Jamyr? How does it work?

Jamyr is a platform that scales employee-generated video content for recruiting and onboarding. We help companies create authentic videos that can be shared on social media, career sites, blog posts, email campaigns etc. We even help drive attract and engage candidates with auto-generated, branded landing pages. Employees receive a link to upload a video response to a question so they don’t need to download an app or anything. Then our customers either trim up the videos themselves or send it to our on-demand video editing team to edit, logos, music, transition effects, and whatever else they want.

How did the idea for Jamyr come about?

When my Co-Founder Brian was a recruiter, he used his mom's old camera to create video stories to help attract and engage candidates. He ran into a ton of issues and it took a long time to get a quality video in front of candidates. Years later he had the same issue with his customers while running a career site platform company. .The products on the market had gaps like requiring employees to download an app to submit videos and clunky video editors that required recruiters and employer brand managers to become video editing experts, not to mention they were way too pricey. When everyone went remote and recruiting teams got slashed because of the pandemic he started tossing around the idea of building a product that could help. So he started designing an MVP on the side and got a few customers to test it out. Eventually, he knew this needed to be its own product and set out to find a team that could raise some capital and builds out the company and product.

What is the benefit for Candidates?

Joining a company is a huge decision. It’s up there with choosing a college, partner, home etc. But there’s still a huge gap in information sharing/transparency. Jamyr gives candidates the opportunity to gather more information about the company culture and values from people who are actively participating in shaping them.

What is the process for employers to use the platform?

We know recruiting teams are busy and creating video content is just one piece of the employer brand and recruiting strategy so we’ve made the process super simple.

The high-level steps are:

  1. Add questions and create a campaign or use one of our campaign guides.

  2. Send a campaign link to employees with tips on how to record a great video.

  3. Employees record and upload their video responses right from their mobile device or computer.

  4. Preview videos and either trim/transcribe video or send to our video editing team.

  5. Share videos with candidates via social media, the career site, and the auto-generated branded landing page right from our dashboard!

What is the benefit for Employers?

We all know video is a powerful way to tell your employer's brand story and touch candidates throughout their journey. Creating video content at a meaningful level is hard. Our customers don’t have that problem because we help them every step of the way from creating thoughtful questions, collecting videos with our easy-to-use platform, creating a beautiful video from our on-demand video editing team, and sharing these videos with candidates through the products we have built.

How does the Jamyr team assist in the process?

Our team helps develop a video strategy that aligns with your recruiting strategy and bandwidth. Our on-demand video editing team takes care of the editing, transcriptions, and branding. We also interview employees if you need help teasing out stories without adding work to your plate.

Why choose Jamyr?

  1. We're not just a platform - we're strategic partners. We empower companies to develop a video content strategy that aligns with their employer branding goals. And we’re always available for support via Slack, email, or by scheduling a meeting.

  2. Our on-demand video editing team saves you time: Most videos turnaround the same day or within 48 hours.

What does it Cost?

We designed Jamyr to fit budgets of all sizes. Our plans range from $3K/year to $60K/year depending on the company size and customizations.

Where do you see Jamyr going in the future?

Our mission is to help companies connect with candidates and tell their stories using video. We want to make a bigger impact through partnerships and integrations.
