Who's hiring and what does the future of TA look like?
WELCOME, Quick Introduction.
👋Hi - Thanks to all 1417 of you that have subscribed!
I wanted to create a place to bring all my content together and dive deeper into the TA/HR space.
The People space is always full of surprises and trends and over the past decade, I have fallen in love with this industry.
I'm most known for viral content on Social media but there's so much more to what drives this content. Different content, same me! I Publish this newsletter every - It's short and sweet.
(For brand partnerships contact me at [email protected] with social media that reaches 10 million eyeballs a month I help you get your word out in the market.)
POLL OF THE WEEK ON LINKEDIN:

If you've been reading this newsletter for a while you'll know that every 2 weeks I try to do this poll. It's simple - Are you hiring? Yes or no.
Based on the news headlines I always think the results are going to be 80% no. Yet EVERY single time I post this poll I get the same result, 70% yes. (Side note: last time I posted this I know of one person that landed a job from seeing a posting... pretty cool)
The following types of jobs were listed: Paid ad executives, sales, healthcare roles, supply chain roles, a lot of IT/tech roles, and aerospace roles.
I think there is still a decent amount of hiring taking place but not sure how many of these jobs are desirable. My inbox is full of recruiters that are actively looking. My newsfeed is full of layoffs still and I'm seeing an increase in recruiters starting new agencies.
I'd be curious to hear your take on this for newsletters. If you've got thoughts on the job market send me an email: [email protected]

LINK TO THE POLL: If you're looking for a job there are a lot of recruiters that have posted openings - (no guarantees or results)
My prediction for the market and future of TA

I thought 2020 was bad for recruiters, Covid took us all by storm and changed the world forever. What followed was a historical comeback for TA and recruiting. Agency recruiters broke records and agencies tripled in size. Internal recruiters got historical raises and remote work took over.
It's hard to believe that only 12 months ago there were articles everywhere saying that recruiters were in more demand and harder to find than software engineers. Perhaps this is why the violent swing in the market over the past 9 months has been brutal.
TA teams getting slashed, from coordinators to VPs, NO ONE is immune, and NO ONE is safe. The bulk of this has happened in tech but every industry has been impacted.
So what do the next few months look like?
I'd love to say that I'm optimistic about a quick bounce back, but based on the conversations I'm having, that's not what I think we are going to see. I don't think we've hit the bottom of this downturn or recession or whatever they're calling it.
I think we'll continue to see mass layoffs and hiring freezes and we'll continue to see this for the next 2-4 months.
Then in Q4 we'll start hearing growth plans for 2024. As optimism hits the market again.
What does this mean for TA Internal and Agency in the Future?
It's hard to envision TA teams getting built in the same way they did in 2021, at least in the short term. In 2021 I was a R4R (I recruited recruiters) and pretty much every recruiter I connected with was interviewing with Amazon and Meta. Thankfully I convinced 10 or so recruiters to drop out of consideration with Amazon as "contract" recruiters, most of them still have jobs while Amazon dropped those contracts last summer.
A few short months later we started to see the collapse of these massive internal teams in what can only be described as a blood bath TA massacre.
Here are my predictions for Q4 as the market starts to swing back:
RPOs take off - they provide a cost-effective solution to traditional agencies and less work than taking on contractors.
Recruitment communities/marketplaces start to gain mass acceptance and use.
AI helps internal teams scale without additional human capital - LEARN CHAT GPT and AI sourcing techniques
Video and Influencer recruitment marketing gain popularity
Fraction TA leadership roles (Chief People Officer, CHRO, VP of talent) grow in popularity
Traditional Agency (Contingency and Retained) lose market share.
Eventually, fees and third-party expense forces companies to consider growing larger TA teams again for the cycle to repeat. (This will likely take 3-5 years)
Recruitment Social Selling Tip
People always ask me how to get better at copywriting my answer is always the same. Get on Twitter.
Nothing has helped me become a better headline writer than my time on Twitter. I only joined the platform in 2020 and have probably tweeted an average of 2 times a day.
What I love about it:
I use it to test content: If it does well on Twitter it will do well on linkedin
I use it to get better with headlines: Across all platforms, yes even video platforms like Tiktok, great text headlines are key for hooking peoples attention.
It helps you stay on top of news and trends in your space. I go to twitter to get inspiration for new content.
It helps me document my thoughts.
It's fun.
I'm not an expert on Twitter but I'm nearly at 10,000 followers. I've learned that it's a hard platform to grow on and that hasn't been my goal with the platform.
A few tips if I had some would be to retweet other people's content, find other content creators in your niche, get involved in conversations, and try and tweet a few times a day if possible. More to come on this as I grow, but for now this is a good starting place.
THANKS FOR READING - STAY TUNED FOR NEXT WEEK
What to expect next week: Poll of the week as always, TA Tech, A HUGE announcement, and any news that develops that's worth covering.
